WESLEY GONZALEZ TRIED TO TELL ME SOMETHING

Following up his trancey comeback tune 'Change', London-based songwriter Wesley Gonzalez has just dropped the vibrant second single from his impending sophomore album Appalling Human. Swelling with warm analogue synthesizers, a tribal tom pattern propels the track as a soulful sax solo welcomes in the relatively short first verse. Lifting quickly into elevatory pre-chorus, frantic percussion fills the space around a few choice synth stabs as subtle female backing vocal reinforce Gonzalez' reflective lyrics. Written in hindsight, the chorus of 'Tried To Tell Me Something' hits hard musically and emotionally, setting deeply personal confessions over deceptively upbeat instrumentation as he sings "Tried to tell me something that I was not prepared to hear, now you're leaving, lips painted pink, I should have changed your mind by now." Appalling Human will arrive on the 12th of June via Moshi Moshi. -Holly Mullineaux
